The ASGC Fellowship and Scholarship Program is a major component of the Alabama program. Since 1990, each member university has matched every NASA-funded fellowship on its campus with a second fellowship of equal value. For the 2011/2012 academic year the consortium awarded 12 graduate student fellowships of $37,000 each (including tuition), as well as 3 teacher education scholarships, and 33 undergraduate scholarships of $1,000 each. 42% of the fellowships and scholarships were awarded to female students, and 35% of the fellowships and scholarships were awarded to minority and disabled students.

The Teacher Education Scholarship Program is designed to attract and encourage talented individuals to enter a course of study leading to pre-college secondary teaching certification in the sciences, mathematics, and technology education. Applications are solicited from high school seniors and community college students in their final year who have been accepted at one of the seven Alabama Space Grant Universities. This scholarship of $1,000 augments the already established scholarship and fellowship program for university undergraduate and graduate students engaged in science, math, and engineering research.
